Elbert Green Hubbard was born on June 19, 1856 in Bloomington, Illinois. He was an American artist, publisher, essayist, novelist, biographer and philosopher. His parents were Silas Hubbard, and Juliana Frances Read. He spent his childhood in Hudson. And there he started his first business venture to sell Larkin soap products.
